Classical and quantum magnetisation reversal studied in single nanometer-sized particles and clusters using micro-SQUIDs

چکیده
Recent progress in experiment on quantum tunnelling of the magnetic moment in mesoscopic systems will be reviewed. The emphasis will be made on measurements of individual nanoparticles. These nanomagnets allow one to test the border between classical and quantum behaviour. Using the micro-SQUID magnetometer, waiting time, switching "eld and telegraph noise measurements show unambiguously that the magnetisation reversal of small enough singlecrystalline nanoparticles is described by a model of thermal activation over a single-energy barrier. Results on insulating BaFeO nanoparticles show strong deviations from this model below 0.4 K which agree with the theory of macroscopic quantum tunnelling in the low dissipation regime. Application of nano- and micro-sized particles of cattle manure on soybean growth
Background: Cattle manure (CM) is the most common organic fertilizer used by farmers. However, its usually slow decomposition leads to the use of chemical fertilizers. Therefore, experiments on nano- and micro-sized particles of CM were conducted to evaluate the possibility of accelerating its decomposition in soil. Methods: The effects of a sole application of CM in different sizes (nano-, mi...
متن کاملMagnetisation switching in a ferromagnetic Heisenberg nanoparticle with uniaxial anisotropy: A Monte Carlo investigation
We investigate the thermal activated magnetisation reversal in a single ferromagnetic nanoparticle with uniaxial anisotropy using Monte Carlo simulations. The aim of this work is to reproduce the reversal magnetisation by uniform rotation at very low temperature in the high energy barrier hypothesis, that is to realize the Néel-Brown model. For this purpose we have considered a simple cubic nan...
متن کاملRadiation attenuation properties of shields containing micro and Nano WO3 in diagnostic X-ray energy range
Background: It has recently been shown that the particle size of materials used for radiation shielding can affect the magnitude of radiation attenuation. Over the past years, application of nano-structured materials in radiation shielding has attracted attention world-wide. The purpose of this study was to investigate the shielding properties of the lead-free shields containing micro and nano-...
